Soccer

This past weekend, Mason started soccer. I was so excited to learn that there was a soccer league for his age. I didn't think he was going to get to play until next year, but this league takes kids as young as 2.5yrs. Mason is a sports kid and I have really wanted to get him involved in something. I thought it would be a good way to make friends and for him to gain some skills. He always wants to play baseball or soccer or golf. I am okay with all of those sports. So, we got him signed up and he had his first "game" Saturday.

Michael was out of town on his yearly guys golf trip and was a little sad that he missed Mason's first ever game, but we took lots of pictures and talked to him on the phone before and after. When we called him before, Mason was so excited. We were sitting in the parking lot and he was telling yelling at his Daddy to tell him ALL about soccer and the goals and how he was going to fall down. Yes. He told him about falling down before he played. Crazy kid. It was the funniest and cutest conversation.

Mason did so good for his first time. He didn't cry and he loved kicking the ball into the goal. He wasn't the greatest at listening to the coaches, but we can work on that. They played red light green light and he understood get the ball into the goal. I was very proud of him and that he seemed to really have fun, which at his age is by far the most important part of soccer. My parents went with us and I think Grandpa was extra proud. Mason told his Papaw where to sit and watch him. At the end they got a stamp and he ran straight over to my parents to show them his stamp. I will say his attention span lasted about 30 minutes and then he wanted to check out the other fields and the playground at the church. We don't have soccer this weekend, because of Labor Day, but next weekend and the next 6 weekends you will find us playing soccer Saturday mornings.  You will also find us getting Mason a sprinkle donut after...his request.

Ready to go..minus his jersey.

Got to include Lil Miss watching.

He understood the ball goes into the goal.

Getting a water break.

Mason had to be the first kid to run the tunnel.

And straight into the goal.

Running to show off his stamp.

Look Papaw I got a stamp.

About Us

My photo
Michael and I have been together since 2006. We met in college at the University of Arkansas and began our life together. We bought a house and moved to Fayetteville from the Chicagoland area in November 2009. We were married in 2010 and had our first child, a boy, in 2013. Our favorite thing to do together is travel and we have gotten the opportunity to go to lots of fun places. We are working, breathing, playful parents. Our fur baby and child are the center of our crazy life, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
