I just have to show off my friend’s and family’s creativity. I love my baby shower invitations. For different reason they are both super fun and right along with my personality. I can’t believe my first shower is a week from this weekend. I am so busy over the next few weeks, until Thanksgiving, that it will be nice to have a little fun breaks on the weekends for these showers. Between work travel and personal travel and baby shower, this little alien and I will be going 100mph. All of this will help the third trimester go super fast! Hopefully.

Doggie Hammock
A few weeks back, I found this great tutorial on a dog car seat cover. Michael and I have been dying to get one for our Highlander. We wanted it for two reasons: the most important reason was to save our leather seats and the second reason was to keep our poor baby out of the floor in case of quick need to brake.
We have looked all over the web and at pet stores. The good covers cost upwards to $100 and the cheap ones around $30. I thought the $100 price was ridiculous and the $30 ones were cheaply made and had horrible reviews. I came across that great, easy tutorial and thought, I could totally make that for Gabby.
I printed the tutorial, and went to Hobby Lobby to purchase all the supplies. I also went to my mama’s house. She has a sewing machine and can actually sew. I am still learning and really have no clue what all the different buttons mean on that machine. Thank goodness for my Mama. I used a fleece fabric and a canvas fabric. I went with a cute paw print fleece fabric and picked a Razorback red for the canvas.
I will tell you one difficult component was finding the buckles. I went to several different locations. I needed 4 buckles and Hobby Lobby had only 3, so I said well Hancock’s will have them. We went to Hancock’s and they only had 3 buckles. Really what is up with the odd number. I ended up going to WalMart to get the fourth one. I was afraid they would be different or else I would have gotten 3 at Hobby Lobby and 1 at Hancock. Plus I really thought Hancock would have 4. Oh well. Here are the pictures from my project.
I should mention that Gabby LOVES her hammock. She now wants to go in the car more and if given a choice would pick this one over Michael’s car. We should make another one for his car, but there really isn’t a need. She goes in the Highlander a lot more. It cost me $20 to make the whole thing. Great deal!

27 Weeks
Back to the chalkboard! Don’t forget to vote if you think we are having a boy or a girl…
How far along? 27 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 16 lbs (according to my scale)
Maternity clothes? Yes.
Stretch marks? No-Thank goodness.
Sleep: Sleep seems to be getting increasingly more difficult. The baby loves to beat up on me at night and makes it hard to fall asleep.
Best moment this week: I went to the doctor last week and got my glucose test results back. I don’t have to go back for the 3 hour test, which means I passed that test. YAY! I was a little worried about it.
Miss Anything? Some yummy sushi. Michael and I went out and had sushi this weekend and it was great, but I really wanted to try his. Mine was not raw and his was raw!
Movement: Lots of movement.
Food cravings: Nothing this week, unless you count wanting Michael’s sushi roll.
Anything making you queasy or sick: As I mentioned above, I passed my glucose test, but I found out I anemic. I am now taking iron supplements and those don’t really sit great on my tummy, but it is necessary.
Feelings: I didn’t have much swelling this week. YAY! The baby has decided to start kicking/elbowing me in my ribs and that is not that comfortable.
Gender: We are not going to find out.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On, but officially starting to feel tighter.
Happy or Moody most of the time: I have had a good week, minus Gabby waking me up early a few days.
Looking forward to: We have our first baby shower in two weeks. I am SOOOOO excited! It is with family, so should be fun! I will share the cutest invites ever later this week.

Week 26
Since I was traveling again all week, it was hard to get a picture with the chalkboard. The chalkboard should be back next week, but in the meantime…Here is a picture taken about 4-5 weeks apart. The one on the right was from week 26.
How far along? 26 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 12 lbs (Doctor’s office scale)
Maternity clothes? Yes.
Stretch marks? No-Thank goodness.
Sleep: I can sleep only on my left side or my back. The baby has been hanging out on my right side and it makes for a very uncomfortable sleep.
Best moment this week: Went to the doctor and heard the baby’s heartbeat again. I just love those times.
Miss Anything? A great glass of wine. I also miss sneaking by people in lines…my belly bumps everything.
Movement: Lots of movement.
Food cravings: Nothing this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Smelly people on flights. Seriously I got stuck next to a guy that smelled so bad for 3 hours!
Feelings: I am having pains in my lower chest area. It is a pulling feeling. I am also having some swelling in my legs. Traveling does not help with the swelling problems.
Gender: We are not going to find out.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: I guess I am just happy all the time. I am happy but more opinionated or less tolerant.
Looking forward to: I am looking forward to getting my glucose test results. I am also looking forward to going to the doctor every two weeks. That’s twice a month I will get to hear the baby’s heartbeat!

Week 25
Someone wanted to take a picture with her Mommy. This was a few takes in and she looked at the camera every time. I was doing a timed photo (hubby wasn’t home). Gabby said my brother or sister needs to know I love them too!
How far along? 25 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 13 lb
Maternity clothes? Yes, even though in this picture I am wearing no maternity clothes.
Stretch marks? No-Thank goodness.
Sleep: Some nights I sleep really good, but our little mover and groover is keeping me up some evenings.
Best moment this week: Michael and I were laying in bed watching TV and we could see our little baby moving on the outside. First, this was very cool and very Alien. Watching your belly bounce around is weird. I keep waiting for him/her to pop through the skin.
Miss Anything? I haven’t really missed anything this week.
Movement: Lots of movement.
Food cravings: I wanted Pesto Café (Italian place here) and my sweet hubby never commented and provided me my favorite dish with dessert!
Anything making you queasy or sick: This week has been just great.
Feelings: I am sore this week. My back is sore and my stomach feels achy. Must be growing.
Gender: We are not going to find out.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: It has been a happy week. Not only did Arkansas FINALLY win a football game, but I got to enjoy it with good friends and great food.
Looking forward to: I am looking forward to my doctor’s appointment next Monday, but I am also worried. Next week is my glucose test!!
LESS THAN 100 DAYS UNTIL BABY SPERRY MAKES HIS/HER APPEARANCE!!!!!!

Week 24
How far along? 24 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 10.5 lb
Maternity clothes? Yes.
Stretch marks? No-Thank goodness.
Sleep: Sleep has been good. Baby Sperry likes to move around at night. He/She likes doing flips and kicking me pretty hard, which makes for a little sleeping trouble.
Best moment this week: We went to my parents house this weekend and worked on a project for Gabby. While we were there, my Dad finally got to feel the baby move. It was shocking since the movement was occurring prior 10PM.
Miss Anything? I am missing sushi this week. There are certain kinds I could still eat, but I want the ones I can’t have or shouldn’t have.
Movement: Lots of movement.
Food cravings: Double stuff Oreos!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I really hate the smell of cigarettes. It kills my nose every time someone walks by who has been smoking. Instant headache.
Have you started to show yet: We have some retired neighbors who we see on our nightly walks and they asked if we were expecting. It is official people can tell!
Gender: We are not going to find out.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: I have been a little moody this week. I don’t want to make decisions and then I change my mind 10x. It has been bad. Hopefully next week will be happy happy happy again.
Looking forward to: I got my first look at the family baby shower invite my cousin did and I LOVE IT! It is a month away and I just cannot wait!
I have added a survey. Since we aren’t going to find out what we are having. I would love to see what people think we are going to have. It is located in the top right column.
About Us
- Married Sperrys
- Michael and I have been together since 2006. We met in college at the University of Arkansas and began our life together. We bought a house and moved to Fayetteville from the Chicagoland area in November 2009. We were married in 2010 and had our first child, a boy, in 2013. Our favorite thing to do together is travel and we have gotten the opportunity to go to lots of fun places. We are working, breathing, playful parents. Our fur baby and child are the center of our crazy life, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
