Big Boy Big Changes

Over the weekend, we moved Mason into a big boy bed. We waited until after our guests left, because our plan was to get a new guest bedroom suite and give Mason the old one. The old one was Michael’s bedroom suite that he has had for years. Probably since high school. He had it in college and it has moved with us on numerous occasions. It is in great shape and had a matching nightstand and dresser. It is a queen bed, which I wasn’t planning to give my toddler, but when we started looking at new bedroom suites for him the queen ones were a little cheaper than the full size ones. Weird right? So, we made the decision to get a new queen guest bed and nightstand, eventually when we can find one we both like.

Saturday morning, after breakfast we started taking apart all the beds. The crib had to be taken apart to move it into the current guest room, which is now Baby 2s room. Mason was a big help. He loves tools and insisted in helping Daddy unscrew everything and carry it from one room to the other. We thought about just moving Mason into a new room, but I didn’t want to do too many changes that displace him because of the new baby. 20150103_094833 I just sat back and watched my boys work. It was fun. It makes me excited to start decorating the Baby 2s room. Will it end up PINK or BLUE?!? I went to get Mason new bedding for his big boy room. I had an idea in my head that I wanted something that could change with Mason. I didn’t want Mickey Mouse bedding or something too baby/kidish. I ended up finding a quilt that is reversible. One side has airplanes and the other side is blue plaid/checkered. I asked Mason which side he wanted and he, of course, picked airplanes. He loves airplanes. I shouldn’t have been surprised. His room has a little mixed theme going. Baseballs and airplanes. Oh yeah those go together. At least the colors match! I need to takedown some of the painted pictures and do some new ones, but it is a constant work in progress.

BEFORE:20150102_145045 AFTER:20150104_101900 Mason’s birthday party is this coming weekend and he will be getting a train table from Mommy and Daddy. It will be going where the giant polar bear is sitting.

I was a little worried. And still am. About Mason falling out of the bed. I bought a rail but it just came Monday. He did so good sleeping in the bed this weekend that I am thinking he might not need it. I am going to hang onto it for a week and if he continues to do good, then I will return it. PhotoGrid_1420338088317 When I see him like this I think he could fall out. It is funny to watch him sleep. He flips around and around all night. I am thinking the queen bed is helping him to stay in the bed itself and not ending up on the floor. We have a new routine that doesn’t involve a rocking chair, but we lay in bed and read a story. I then turn off the light and say goodnight and he is good. Such a good little sleeper. Next we will be removing the pacifier from bedtime, which is the only time he is allowed the paci, and we will continue to work on the potty training. Wish us luck. Lots of changes in his future. Week 24-Baby #2

Jan15_01_04_2015_559.NEFHow far along? 24 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 13 lbs. according to home scale
Maternity clothes? Stretchy pants are my new best friend. Even though, in this weeks bumpdate picture I am most definitely hanging out in my PJs. Yesterday was lazy day at our house.
Stretch marks? No-Thank goodness and applying lotion like it is going out of style.
Sleep: Good and bad. I am sleeping hard, but I have yet ANOTHER cold and wake up coughing a million times. I am hoping I am on the downward part of this cold. I feel like I cannot breath the greatest.
Best moment this week: We spent the week with Michael’s close friend and his wife. They came to stay with us and it was so nice. Gabby loved playing with Zack and Lesley loved playing with Mason. They are expecting a baby about 2 weeks after me and I think they enjoyed seeing our crazy little toddler. Yours will eventually be like that I promise.
Miss Anything? I really wanted a glass of wine for NYE. We went to a nice dinner with several friends and the ladies were sitting while the men parked the cars. The waitress gave us the specials and drink specials. Wrong crowd lady. Three pregnant women sitting here not going to be drinking. You will be repeating yourself.
Movement: The movement is getting stronger. I am afraid the baby is still low. I feel the occasional movement above my belly button but move of the movement is super close to my bladder.
Food cravings: This week I craved pasta. I wanted Olive Garden or something Italian. Lucky for me, my hubby was okay with getting it too or me and Olive Garden would have been alone.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Heartburn. Tums. Even my fish oil pill is killing me. Yuck! Please let it end soon…in like 15 weeks.
Feelings: I am feeling stressed. I looked at my calendar and the next two weeks are plum CRAZY. 4 parties we are hosting 3 and going to all 4. I am traveling to NYC and Michael is traveling to Salt Lake City for work. Slow waaaayyy down!
Gender: Not finding out. Yay for surprises!
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: My emotions are completely in check now.
Looking forward to: Mason’s birthday is Thursday and his party is Sunday. WOW!! It is so fun, we are going to have such a fun week and weekend. Pool birthday party for a close family friend…Yay for getting into a swimsuit at 24 weeks!! Mason will have fun though.

Christmas

We have had a wonderful couple of weeks. Christmas was spent with family. We started our Christmas holiday on Christmas Eve by driving to my parents house and spending the whole day. Mason loves going to Nana and Papaw’s house. He got to hang out with Uncle Eric and his favorite second doggie Callie. Nana and Papaw went a little overboard on the gift giving again this year, but Mason loved opening all of his presents and helping everyone else open presents.

Dec14_12_24_2014_433.NEF Uncle Eric got Mason a ride-on train. He loved it! He rides it daily. I think Uncle Eric was excited to see Mason’s reaction to the gift…which was to open it. Adorable!Dec14_12_24_2014_511.NEF Christmas Eve night we drove back to our house, for our visit from Santa. Mason slept in a little, which was much appreciated. He walked downstairs and immediately saw his new car. He got in the car and hasn’t left it. He opened all his presents from inside the car. It was so fun to watch. Dec14_12_25_2014_517.NEF Drinking and driving. I guess we need to have a talk with him. Dec14_12_25_2014_518.NEF Opening a present in the car while eating the cookies that Santa brought him…per his request of course. Dec14_12_25_2014_526.NEF Dec14_12_25_2014_528.NEF We spent the day at home, letting Mason play with all of his new toys. He loved driving his car. It goes super fast and he isn’t very good at steering, but that will come with time. Until the steering improves I guess it will be a good workout for us. Dec14_12_25_2014_535.NEF Starting on Christmas night, Mason was getting a rash. When he woke up Christmas morning it was WAY worse. He wasn’t running a fever and acted perfectly fine. I was worried we would be making a Christmas Day walk-in clinic visit. I texted a friend who thought it looked like an allergic reaction. She thought, as long as it didn’t get worse, we could wait until the next day to take him to the doctor. We woke up Friday to it looking worse. So, we took him Friday to the doctor, and got a steroid cream. The doctor thought it was a severe eczema rash. The cream worked its magic and by Friday night he looked so much better. PhotoGrid_1419518718675 Michael’s Mom decided we would do Christmas on Saturday with her and the cousins. We were glad we could go, because the day before with the rash was worrisome. I wasn’t going to take Mason if he could happen to have something to infect his cousins. Mason slept almost 3 hours on Saturday and would have slept more if I had not gotten him up to go to Grandma’s house. I, unfortunately, did not take any pictures. We arrived late and by the time I woke Mason up and ran out the door I just completely forgot.

We have had Michael’s best friend and his wife staying with us this week, which has been a blast. Mason and Gabby both have enjoyed having new people to play with. I don’t know what Mason is going to do when they go home today. For NYE we got a sitter and went to a nice dinner. Since, his friend’s wife and I are both pregnant, we barely made it to midnight. It was happy new year…lets go to sleep. We spent the new year smoking ribs and watching football. It has been a great couple of days and I am ready to take down Christmas and relax this weekend.

2014 in Review

January:

The hubby and I took a kid free vacation to go skiing at our favorite spot Crested Butte. We had a blast, but seriously missed our baby boy. Can’t wait until 2016, when we plan to take Mason on his first ski trip.20140120_105743

Mason turned 1 and we celebrated with all of our friends and family. Mason was so excited about having all of the attention and he especially loved his CAKE!! Life in 2014 was just beginning and we were already enjoying the little things. DSC_7156

February:

We had a fabulous Valentine’s Day with our two sweet babies. Mason was looking very GQ and cruising the entire house for kisses.PhotoGrid_1392393619619

We also started noticing Mason was having several allergic reactions and my poor baby had a rash on his face almost constantly. IMG_20140129_125455

March:

We started to prepare for summer and Mason was right there helping his Daddy out to build all of the new projects. We also took Mason to an allergist and found out our poor baby had several allergies to different food items. Life changes.MasonAllen_Bday_03_16_2014_4616.NEF

April:

We had our first Easter egg hunting experience. Mason didn’t quite understand that no one was going to take away his eggs, but he loved holding them and later discovering the surprises that were inside.Easter_04_19_2014_4757

We celebrated my 30th Birthday party with a lot of friends in VEGAS!!! We ate a lot of good food, gambled and went to some fun shows. We will leave it at that.DSC_0421

May:

Summertime fun time began!! We had so much fun going to the lake in May. Mason loves riding in the boat, even though most of the time he would fall asleep.20140525_123553

We took Mason to see some Lions and Tigers. He wanted to make friends with them so bad. It was fun to watch his excitement. We might even need to take him back this summer.MothersDay_05_10_2014_4959.NEF

June:

I was in one of my closest friends wedding. It was wonderful and he is super lucky to have married such a wonderful woman!PeerbolteWedding_06_14_2014_5038.NEF

We spent sometime in June with family. Hanging out at the pool and going to baseball games together. It was a great month for family. Mason especially loves his Papaw. 20140615_200642

August:

August was another big, fun month. We found out we were expecting baby #2, even though we didn’t tell anyone for a long time. We took Mason and his best friend to a local fire station to see the fire trucks. Those boys loved every second, especially the brooms.Fire Station_08_24_2014_5429.NEF

September:

Michael and I took another kid free vacation to St. Thomas this month. It was amazing and we needed some R&R. We decided 7 days is TOO long to stay away from Mason and it was probably our last vacation completely kid free. I am pretty sure Mason starting in 2015 will be old enough to really enjoy a vacation with us. St_62.Thomas_09_24_2014_5547.NEF

Football season was in full swing in October and we don’t miss a game. We always go with my parents since they have season tickets too. IMG_20141025_102118

Mason got to go fishing in October with his cousin Hadley, while Mama got some much needed rest, from being so sick with Baby #2. PhotoGrid_1414342279638

November:

We got ready for Christmas, by taking Mason to see the local Christmas lights. He loves the lights. Our neighbors still have them up and we have to drive all the way around the block to see them all. I think he will be a little disappointed when they are gone.20141121_182950-MIX

We also got to see our newest addition on the big screen and he/she looks great. 2015 is going to bring great additions and surprises. SCN_0001

Week 23 – Baby #2

Dec14_12_28_2014_553.NEF

How far along? 23 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 12 lbs. according to home scale
Maternity clothes? Lets get comfy. Stretchy pants are my new best friend.
Stretch marks? No-Thank goodness and applying lotion like it is going out of style.
Sleep: If I had answered this before last night I would have said pretty good. But I have gotten a cold and last night was rough. It was rough for everyone. I kept hearing Mason, Michael got up a few times…we were all restless.
Best moment this week: I have absolutely loved getting to spend the week with Mason and Michael. Christmas was fun. Mason’s excitement for unwrapping presents, and playing with new toys was wonderful.
Miss Anything? I feel super blessed for the last week, so I can’t complain about missing anything.
Movement: We have a mover and shaker. She/He loves to stay calm during the day, but the second I lay on my back she/he starts jumping around and flipping.
Food cravings: I seriously could eat sweets instead of real food for every meal. It is so bad for me but tastes so good.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Heartburn. End of story. It is bad especially at night. The constant burning in my throat is keeping me up. Tums.
Feelings: I am feeling like things are slowing down. My stomach is getting larger and larger, but I feel like April is so far away.
Gender: Not finding out. Yay for surprises!
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: My emotions are completely in check now.
Looking forward to: Mason’s birthday party is in a few weeks and I have to get with the planning. I can’t wait to have a 2yr old! I can’t believe two years ago we were waiting to see when he would arrive and now he is going to become a big brother in 2015!! It is just so crazy to this Mama.

About Us

My photo
Michael and I have been together since 2006. We met in college at the University of Arkansas and began our life together. We bought a house and moved to Fayetteville from the Chicagoland area in November 2009. We were married in 2010 and had our first child, a boy, in 2013. Our favorite thing to do together is travel and we have gotten the opportunity to go to lots of fun places. We are working, breathing, playful parents. Our fur baby and child are the center of our crazy life, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
